An elegant, family garden in North London, inspired by the client’s love of travel and contemporary design. Now a versatile, stylish space, it is perfect for both entertaining and play.

Bold, clean lines, combined with structural planting and decorative screens delineate different ‘rooms’ within the space.

A stepped rill offers a special, focal point to the garden, which can be equally enjoyed in views from the house.

Starting from a completely blank canvas, this project brings privacy and character to the garden of a new build property in Oxfordshire.  

With the strategic combination of trees, structural foliage plants, and flowering perennials, we have created an inviting and intimate space that flows from the house and offers variation and interest throughout the seasons.

RURAL ESTATE, ABERDEENSHIRE

Set within the beautiful Aberdeenshire countryside, the estate is located on the edge of the Grampian Highlands and has a mixture of residential and commercial areas. 

The client is passionate about their role as custodian of the land and wanted to create a landscape that is both timeless and sympathetic to the environment.

Inspiration for this design was drawn from the agricultural practices of the estate and the natural beauty of its surroundings.  Inspired by the site’s history and its own river, our design combines intimate retreat areas with bolder, open spaces in a way that will balance and enhance the many different uses of the estate for generations to come.

FAMILY GARDEN, SOUTH LONDON

Taking into account the requirements of this site’s existing architecture, this design puts a sunken, tree lined dining area centre stage to create an outdoor living space with a sense of privacy and style. A lawn and playhouse at the rear of the garden provide a special area for children and some relaxed seating close to the house allows for those spontaneous outdoor coffees and G&Ts.

ND ON THE GREEN, NEW KINGS ROAD

ND on the Green is the design HQ and retail premises of ND Studio. We transformed this narrow side return with new timber cladding and shade tolerant planting to create a lush green oasis for staff and clients to enjoy. Bamboo lines the long wall, with evergreen perennials in two stunning Torc pots.

This design focuses on creating a sophisticated entertaining space that feels like an extension of the client’s home. Working with existing level changes, the design focuses on hard landscaping detail to add interest and individuality to the small space.

PROVENCE STYLED COURTYARD, SOUTH LONDON

The South of France provides the aesthetic inspiration for this courtyard garden at an end-of-terrace property. Key requirements were sunny seating, built-in storage and privacy along the rear boundary. The contrasting paving adds interest and creates a sense of flow even within the small space and helps anchor the seating area as an inviting feature.

COASTAL THEMED GARDEN, SURREY

This garden uses structures and materials inspired by coastal architecture, as well as maritime inspired planting to express the client’s love of Cornwall and gardening. Raised beds set on a diagonal balance out the unusual trapezoid shape of the garden and create a retreat enclosed in plants.
